No Social Security cost-of-living raises for the next 2 years -- Aug. 24, 2009
" The trustees who oversee Social Security are projecting there won't be a cost of living adjustment (COLA) for the next two years. That hasn't happened since automatic increases were adopted in 1975. 
By law, Social Security benefits cannot go down. Nevertheless, monthly payments would drop for millions of people in the Medicare prescription drug program because the premiums, which often are deducted from Social Security payments, are scheduled to go up slightly. 

Advocates say older people still face higher prices because they spend a disproportionate amount of their income on health care, where costs rise faster than inflation. Many also have suffered from declining home values and shrinking stock portfolios just as they are relying on those assets for income.

Mexico has emphasized the need to differentiate drug addicts and casual users from the violent traffickers whose turf battles have contributed to the deaths of more than 11,000 people since President Felipe Calderon took office in late 2006.

Javier Oliva, a political scientist at Mexico's National Autonomous University, said the new law posed "a serious contradiction" for the Calderon administration.
"If they decriminalize drugs it could lead the army, which has been given the task of combating this, to say 'What are we doing'?" he said.

Treasures in Heaven
It is written in the bible; "lay up your treasures in heaven" Matthew 6:20 . Bring that to God, today, which belongs to Him, your tithes in his barn (Malachi 3) that you may have to eat in the time of need. In the end times, you will only profit from your “tithes” from which you must also live. Blessed are you, if you had made a timely investment in this wise, and prepared yourself.God showed me, one would only have a “tenth” of one’s income left. This tenth however will be enough for you to nourish yourself and your family, as well as for your survival. It will be that tenth which you had given to God that He will use to sustain and compensate you in the difficult times.The “tenth” which belongs to God, and which man also gives to him, is the true crises currency, which will also serve to deflect the whole financial curse from those who took their tithing seriously. Whoever pays his tithes therefore lays up his treasures (money) in heaven (with God) and therefore lives and operates under very different laws and principles. That is the only alternative to the whole deceitful world economy, which then delivers a real and sustainable profit.

Cutting off supplies to US troops in Afghanistan

Last Tuesday [ April 21, 2009] , the inspector general of Sindh province, Salahuddin Babar Khattack, warned in an official statement that there was credible intelligence to suggest that militants had already infiltrated into the southern port city of Karachi and planned major sabotage activities. These could include strategic facilities such as an oil refinery complex or power stations. Karachi is also the main sea port where NATO forces receive supplies which are later moved into Afghanistan. " Deputies voted 78-1 for the government-backed bill to cancel the lease agreement on the Manas air base, a transit point for 15,000 troops and 500 tons of cargo each month to and from Afghanistan.
The United States is trying to finalize details of an alternative overland supply route to Afghanistan amid concerns over worsening security in Pakistan. Some 75% of U.S. supplies currently travel through Pakistan, where militants have stepped up attacks on truck convoys destined for U.S. bases.
Washington has already received permission from Russia and Kazakhstan to transport non-lethal supplies for Afghanistan by rail. It hopes to secure similar guarantees from Uzbekistan, which has a border and transportation links with Afghanistan.
Around 100 containers of non-lethal supplies bound for Afghanistan left by train Wednesday from Latvia for Russia, U.S. diplomats said.
